Fruits of the Holy Spirit

Galatians 5:19-23

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

While in this world we are faced with two options: to walk after our fleshly desires (and we all have them) or to walk after the teachings of the Holy Spirit (God’s perfect way). If you have not given you heart to Christ and accepted Him into your life you are walking daily after your flesh, living under the curse of the law. Only Christ living within us allows us to walk after the Holy Spirit. First, if you do not know Jesus as you Savior I encourage you to ask Jesus into your heart today. No one has gone so far He will not accept you as His own. It’s not hard just go to Him in prayer, confess with a sincere heart you are a sinner  in need of His forgiveness, then ask Him to come into your heart and wash you clean. Ask Him to give you a new heart. One He can mold and change into His likeness.

Once we allow Christ into our heart we then ask the Holy Spirit to come live within us to teach us and guide on a daily basis. The Holy Spirit opens our spiritual eyes so we see who we really are in God’s eyes and allows us to see how we are conducting ourselves. The more we walk in the Holy Spirit the more we walk in love, joy, peace, longsuffering (patience), goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance (self-restraint). We are not longer under the law or the curse of sin Galatians 5:18. We now have freedom from the old life of sin. When we walk in the Holy Spirit we walk in peace and happiness in our relationship with God and others. Romans 8:2-6

Heavenly Father, We come to you today asking you to forgive us of our sins against you and others. Come into our heart and wash us clean through your son’s blood that was shed on the cross for the sins of the world. Teach us to crucify our flesh with its weaknesses and sinful nature. Pour your Holy Spirit into us to teach us and guide us each day allowing us to walk in your Holy Spirit. We need you Lord for we cannot produce the fruits of the Spirit without Your Spirit in us. We thank You for Your love and forgiveness, as we turn our hearts over to You. In Jesus Precious and Holy Name, Amen!
