Wednesday’s Devotional
Matthew 14: 24-32
But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

Can you just imagine looking out over the tossing water and seeing Jesus walking on those waves? They had to have been petrified at those waves, yet Jesus had full control of the storm to the point He was walking on the tossing waves. Our lives today are far too often as those waves the disciples saw. We are tossed to and fro from all the turmoil of this world yet in the mist of all the turmoil Jesus is a solid anchor. He is the one solid thing we can hold on to that will keep us grounded and safe no matter what we are facing in life. Just as he reached out and pulled Peter out of the tossing waves He also reaches out and pulls us to safety, all we have to do is ask just as Peter did. When Jesus steps into our life just like he did into their boat the winds of turmoil cease.

Lord, I know You have full control over all the turmoil of this world and I have faith You are in full control of all that I face or will ever face in my life. Just as Peter cried out to You for help I also cry out to You; steady me and hold me up when I feel I am drowning from all that is happening around me. Step into my life just as You did into the disciple’s boat bringing a cease to all that tosses me in this life. I need you Lord and I thank You for being my anchor in life’s storms. In Jesus Precious Name! Amen
