Friday’s Devotional

Friday’s Devotional
John 17:4, “I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.”
We live in a world were our days are busy and far too often our nights. It’s so easy to run through life without ever asking the Lord if we are doing what He put us on this earth to do?” We have family, work, and a million other things we have to keep up with. In the mist of it all are we taking the time we need to be the person God created us to be? Are we slowing down enough to hear His voice? How often do we take the time to speak to that one in need of a cheerful or encouraging word; or take the time to lend a helping hand to others? Far too often I find myself letting these things slip by me. We all have responsibilities but I know for myself I want to be able to say as Jesus did in John 17:4, “I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” When are able to say this we know we have had a fulfilling life, a life in which at the end of our days we have peace and contentment knowing we have fulfilled God’s will for our life.
Heavenly Father, Teach me to slow down and listen for Your voice daily so that I know I am fulfilling Your purpose for my life on this earth. Remind me to set my priorities upon You and Your will for my life not upon all the things happening around me. Help me to have a kind and loving heart that sees the needs of others. Help me to be like Jesus who gave His all and did Your will while He walked this earth. Help me to fulfill my purpose and glorify You each day of my life. In Jesus Name. Amen
