Monday’s Devotional

Monday Devotional
John 10:10 KJV
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

Satan is that thief, constantly trying to whispers lies into our heart; telling us to do things that will steal our joy and contentment. He longs to destroy us because he knows the Heavenly Father loves us. If we give our ear to Satan he will only bring destruction to our lives. Far too often we listen to the lies of the enemy and we then pay the price for it. I know for myself I have been guilty of this.

On the other hand there is our Heavenly Father who only wants peace, joy and contentment for our lives. He whispers come follow me and I will give you all the joy and peace you long for. His love for us cannot allow Him to desire anything else for us. The question is, “How do we know who is speaking to us”? One way is to measure what is being spoken to us against God’s Holy Word. If what we hear or feel does not measure up to what He teaches us then we know it is a lie from Satan. God speaks to us through is Holy Word constantly teaching us to hear His Word in our heart as we learn His written Word. We need to ask the Lord to teach us to hear His Word and to give us understanding so we know in our heart we are following him.

Heavenly Father, please give me an ear to hear Your voice as You speak to me. When Satan comes to speak lies to me help me to know in my heart who is speaking to me. Lead me into a personal relationship with You so that I know Your voice. Jesus said my sheep hear my voice and follow me. Lord, I long in my heart to be one of Your sheep following You all the days of my life; for I know when I follow You I can live in the peace, joy, and contentment that only You can give. Thank you Father for loving me and guiding me as I travel this road called life. In Jesus Name. Amen
