Monday’s Devotional
Job 10:12 kjv
“Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.”

Here sits Job in sackcloth and ashes covered in sores, with his children taken from him and all the things he had worked for and accomplished gone; yet Job did not lose faith in the Lord.
Can imagine having that kind of faith? Seeing your children die and the possessions you had worked for gone; you’re sick in body and spirit and your wife tells you to curse God and die. Yet Job could not let go of the One he knew had given him all of those things to begin with. He told his wife woman you speak foolishness. Job held on because he knew personally the One who gave him life. He understood everything belongs to God and only He has full control of everything including his life.
Too often we believe what we have is ours and no one else can take that from us. We become full of the idea that we are why it is here but truthfully it is just a blessing from God. Yes we work to use it while we are here on this earth but when our days are done we cannot take any of it with us. It belongs to God; the earth and the fullness of it are the Lords. ( 1 Corinthians 10:26) The Lord showed favor to Job just as He will to us today if we are willing to follow Him. The Lord came to give us life and give it more abundantly. (John 10:10) He wants us to enjoy all the wonderful blessing before us but He also wants us to always remember He is in control of it all.
Job said, “Thy visitation has preserved my spirit.” Job might have been down to his lowest but he certainly was not overcome. His faith in God carried him through, in the latter days of Job God blessed him more than his beginning. (Job 42:12) We may be down to our lowest but we are never overcome as long as we invite the Lord along with us.

Father, Help me to trust You as Job did. I thank you Lord for lifting me up when I am down, beaten and weary. When troubles come in my life, visit me in my spirit as you did Job. Remind me of Your presence, and that You will never forsake me no matter what I am facing. I know just as You did for Job You can bless my latter days more than my first. Your Word is truth Lord and I put my faith in You. In Jesus Holy Name. Amen
