Thursday’s Devotional

Thursday’s Devotional
Luke 19:10
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Do you ever wonder why we are so quick to judge others? We far too often are quick to judges others with issues like drug addiction, alcohol addiction, just to name a few, instead of looking at why these people have gotten to the place they are at. It seems easy for us to judge those who are involved; yet Jesus said He came to save that which was lost. Are we not as His ambassadors suppose to be seeing them through Christ’s eyes instead of eyes of judgment? Jesus sees them with compassion and love, longing to free them from their addictions. We are not to enable such activity but as Christian, caring people we are to reach out to those souls suffering; offering them the help they so desperately need. So many families are hurting today because of addictions. I have seen far too much of it in my own community. My heart goes out to these people and to their families. As a Christian we should be doing all we can to influence these people; showing them how Jesus brings the sense of peace and contentment they are searching for.
As the Scribes and Pharisees murmured against Jesus asking Him, why do you sit with publicans and sinner? Jesus answered saying, “They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:30-32) A physician heals; Jesus came to heal. We see so many sick today from all kind of sin who need to be shown that Jesus is the answer they are looking for. My prayer is through the help of good people and our Lord Jesus Christ they find release from the sicknesses that binds them in despair.
Heavenly Father, Help us to be as Jesus was, willing to reach out in love and compassion to those who are sick from the addictions of this world. Teach us the best way to reach each of those who are hurting from a bondage that has taken over their life. Let us not enable them, but do what is necessary for them to get the help they so desperately need. We know you came to heal and save all those who are lost; help us to see others through Your eyes so we know the best possible way to bring them back to You and to the freedom from sin and addictions they so desperately need. In Jesus Name, Amen
