Proverbs 13:22 A good man (person) leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children.
Last night as I slept, I dreamed about my first cousin Mike who recently passed away. As I watched him in my dream, I saw him standing in front of someone as he was ministering at a memorial service. When I looked down into the casket, I saw it was my cousin in the casket and he was speaking at his own memorial service. I remember thinking he looks just like himself and he seems so at peace. After I awoke, I wondered why I would dream such a dream, then as I was reading in the book of Psalm this morning verse 15 in chapter 51 jumped out at me. It read, “Oh Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.” The Lord immediately showed me within my heart that my cousin Mike, a minister for God for many years, had ministered his own memorial service by the life he lived each day for the Lord. He had left an awesome testimony; one where he walked after the Lord each day, loving others, and spreading the Gospel of Christ to the world.
God then impressed upon my heart that each of us should always be mindful that our greatest testimony is our daily walk of love for the Lord and for others. Sometimes I can get a little lazy and find myself becoming slack in that walk of love. Yet Jehovah God has a way of always reaching out and pulling me back where I need to be. What an awesome God we serve and what an awesome legacy we leave behind when we love the Lord and walk in His love toward others.
As you encounter others today be mindful of what each of them might be facing in their lives and show them the love and kindness that Christ would show them. For in so doing you will leave a legacy of love for Christ and a wonderful legacy to those you love when you leave this world.
Heavenly Father, open our hearts to receive You and to receive the love You have for others into our hearts. Let our words and actions to those around us be the love and actions You would show them. Let that love be so great it will become an inheritance to our children and our children’s children. In Jesus Precious Name! Amen
