James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
Psalms 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Time is such a precious thing. Sometimes it feels as though the days and years fly by.
As I get older it seems life in Tanner Hollow can be stressful with days taken up with work, chores, and the many heartaches going on with family and friends; not to mention the world with all its evil and struggles.
Some days I wish I could go back and visit those simpler times of childhood.
When I was a child, even a young adult, it seemed as though life was so much easier with more peaceful days than days of stress. Life back then was simple and lived at a much slower pace. We worked hard from morning until night doing all the many things that was required of life on a farm. At the end of our day, we would sit on the front porch with family talking and laughing, or we would just sit and listen to the many frogs and crickets who lived in the nearby creek. On those quiet nights the sound of the hoot owl could be heard in the distance hills. There was no television, much less cell phones, to occupy our every minute and thought. Life had little to distract us from those around us and from time spent with the Lord.
Today we live a life of convenience, not much physical work. Yet, in the ways that matter, so much more stressful. We have access to every bad thing happening around the world at the touch of our fingers. At times we can feel as though our mind and heart is in overload, our spirit crying out to be released from it all.
Technology connects us with everything going on in the world yet disconnects us far too many times from what really matters most, family and our Heavenly Father. Those two are the foundation of what everything else is built upon. Our time spent with Our Heavenly Father and with our family grounds us to what brings peace and joy to our lives. Time spent with them is never wasted time but a precious gift from the Father above.
Our time on earth is a fleeting thing; we should always use it wisely, for it is the one thing we can never call back or replace.
God Bless!
