Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
Genesis 22: 14 KJV And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-Jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
Jehovah-Jireh, God will provide! Even when we are facing the most challenging time of our life just as Moses was in Genesis 22 Jehovah will provide for our need. Whether it be a physical need, an emotional or spiritual need Jehovah-Jireh provides. All we need to do is ask and trust him with our whole heart for He has promised He will not withhold any good thing from His children.
Psalm 84:11 KJV
For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Troubles may come in this world but one thing we can rest assured of, the Lord is always with us, and He has overcome this world. All that is required of us is to keep our eyes upon Him and to trust His guidance in every aspect of our lives. Through Him we also will overcome this world as we walk in the knowledge that we are loved by an almighty Savior who will never leave us or forsake us.
James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
Psalms 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Time is such a precious thing. Sometimes it feels as though the days and years fly by.
As I get older it seems life in Tanner Hollow can be stressful with days taken up with work, chores, and the many heartaches going on with family and friends; not to mention the world with all its evil and struggles.
Some days I wish I could go back and visit those simpler times of childhood.
When I was a child, even a young adult, it seemed as though life was so much easier with more peaceful days than days of stress. Life back then was simple and lived at a much slower pace. We worked hard from morning until night doing all the many things that was required of life on a farm. At the end of our day, we would sit on the front porch with family talking and laughing, or we would just sit and listen to the many frogs and crickets who lived in the nearby creek. On those quiet nights the sound of the hoot owl could be heard in the distance hills. There was no television, much less cell phones, to occupy our every minute and thought. Life had little to distract us from those around us and from time spent with the Lord.
Today we live a life of convenience, not much physical work. Yet, in the ways that matter, so much more stressful. We have access to every bad thing happening around the world at the touch of our fingers. At times we can feel as though our mind and heart is in overload, our spirit crying out to be released from it all.
Technology connects us with everything going on in the world yet disconnects us far too many times from what really matters most, family and our Heavenly Father. Those two are the foundation of what everything else is built upon. Our time spent with Our Heavenly Father and with our family grounds us to what brings peace and joy to our lives. Time spent with them is never wasted time but a precious gift from the Father above.
Our time on earth is a fleeting thing; we should always use it wisely, for it is the one thing we can never call back or replace.
I Corinthians 10:31
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
The beginning of work is from the beginning of time. God Himself worked for six days and rested on the seventh. When God completed creation He called it “very good”. We are created in the image of God and are designed to experience success and fulfillment through hard work! As Christians, we should view our jobs as an opportunity to serve God through perseverance and patience, and serve others through a Christ-like attitude.
Have a Blessed Labor Day everyone!
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Recently I moved all my houseplants to the back porch where there is shade until late afternoon. Our summers are extremely hot and being in the shade seems to suit their needs much better than being in more direct sunlight.
As I was watering and pulling away dead leaves from my plants the thought came to my mind; “Does the plant feel pain when I do this?” Almost immediately the Lord brought to my mind the scripture where He said He purges the branch (us) so we will bear more and better fruit. I looked again at the plant, and I saw all the new growth starting to come out. The new leaves look so pretty and green without the dead mixed in with it. Just as pruning the plant helps it to grow and flourish, we also grow and flourish when the Lord cuts away dead and destructive things from our lives. I have felt the pain of having those destructive things removed from my life, but as time has passed, I also see new growth in my life, and how I am flourishing in so many ways without those things that once held me back. It is not easy when the Lord removes certain things or even people from our lives; yet in His infinite wisdom He always knows what is best for us.
Take time to sit down and look at your life. Are there things in your life you know are holding you back from becoming fruitful? As the Lord works to remove those things trust that He knows what is best for you and let go of those destructive things so you can grow into a fruitful disciple for the Lord.
Inside Heaven’s Door
When our time on earth is done
Our race is finally run
We will soar beyond the heavens
Into the presence of the Holy One
There we’ll lay down our earthly burdens
And receive a robe and crown
As we kneel before our Savior
Sweet peace is finally found
We’ll walk the streets of pure gold
Made for you and I
Safe in the arms of Jesus
No more to suffer and die
He’ll whisper enter in
To the home I made for you
There to rest forevermore
Safe and secure inside heaven’s door.
