God Is Truth

What is truth and what does it mean to you? As I recently listened to the debate over what truth is, I began to ask myself this question, “How is truth defined and where does real truth come from?”

Is there one standard of truth that all things are judged by or do we each have our own idea of what truth is? If we each simple judge all things by what our idea of truth is then how would we ever be able to know right from wrong as a society.

Whether we want to admit it or not we all believe there is a right and wrong in the world we live in. There are laws that govern right and wrong. For example, we are not allowed to kill each other, steal from each other, or abuse each other without paying the consequence for those actions. So we do have a standard of what is right and what is wrong. This takes us back to the question above, “How is truth defined and where does real truth come from?” In John 17 verses 17-19 Jesus says: 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. This scripture says God’s is truth.

All truth is based upon God. It is the one standard we judge all things by. Our laws today are based upon the 10 commandments of God that He give to Moses on Mt Sinai. Even though there is a constant battle to have them removed for the walls of our courthouse they are still the standard that our laws are based upon. Without the standard of truth that was given to us by our Heavenly Father our world be in complete chaos. The further we move away from God’s truth the more we see our world become a place of war, trouble, heartache, and confusion. God’s truth brings peace and tranquility. Satan on the other hand wants to destroy our belief in God’s truth, in so doing he will destroy any peace and joy we have.

Often times as I have sat and studied the Word of God, I have thought if only all mankind would live by God’s truth and His principles we would have no need for policemen or the laws that they do their best to enforce. If we would do as it says in (Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself,) then we would all live peaceful, happy lives. If we each loved each other as ourselves then we would all treat each other with love.

So real truth is, there is a God in heaven, he is the creator of all things, he formed each of us, and he gave each of us life. Through Him we have salvation by accepting His Son Jesus Christ. Real truth comes into our lives when we begin to live by God’s will and obey his commandments. Some day he’s coming back to claim those who live by His truth, they shall receive eternal life. Those who ignore his truth will suffer eternal punishment and separation from God. I ask you today don’t be one of those who ignore His truth. If you don’t know Christ then accept Him as your Savior today and become one of those who follow God’s truth.
